Tale of Shame: Space used without Efficiency

As I was riding the bus, I there were about 6 or so people sitting who obviously knew each other. One of these was a small child, who was talking to a girl in her 20s. They were talking about school and how one of the people was a teacher. This kid was getting a lot of attention Then the kid starts working his numbers.

All I could think about throughout the whole bus ride was:

"That kid's taking up an entire seat when he could definitely fit in the space between the floor and the seat."

On a side note that most of you will find more interesting than the rest of the story, this guy who was apparently the teacher they were talking about wore a ring around his neck, Frodo-style.

Tale of Shame: Weakness not corrected by wolves

I was walking directly behind a girl, when she tripped and fell for no apparent reason other than the sidewalk being slightly uneven. I considered briefly stopping to help her up, but frankly, if I had fallen I think I would want the rest of society to just pretend it never happened. So instead, I walked around her and suppressed my chuckle until I was a few meters past her. I really think this was the most generous possible action on my part.

Now, before society sprang into existence, we had this neat little trick that would take care of problems like this. When someone fell down, a pack of wolves would catch them and eat them. Anyone who stopped to help them up would also be eaten.
